Sanja Filipovic, MMath
(Master of Mathematics)

Sanja, is an enthusiastic individual and highly rigorous, committed and motivated teacher, who obtained a master’s degree diploma of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Ottawa in Canada, after obtaining a Teaching bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics from the University of East Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a few years earlier.
She has accumulated over seven years of professional background, her work experience ranging from occupying a school mathematics teacher position at elementary and high school levels, to working as an online mathematics teacher either directly with her own clients or for educational institutions across Canada, from Toronto, Kingston and Ottawa in Ontario, to Surrey in British Columbia, where she taught mostly to individual students, but also to groups.
Sanja’s work and effort are unanimously appreciated as she received numerous positive and very satisfactory comments, assessments, acclaims or praises, form employers, students, or their parents, among others regarding the methods and approach used, as well as for the student’s significant progress observed, or the results achieved.
She is proficient in a large array of mathematical subjects, including among others Calculus and vectors, Advanced functions, Data management, Linear algebra and Differential equations, teaching them to a large range of grades and levels, from elementary to university levels. During her career, Sanja had the opportunity to apply diverse curriculums and practices, one of them being the Singapore Curriculum. It is worth noting that Singapore’s education system is considered the best in the world and that this country has the top overall student achievement in mathematics. Other curriculums which Sanja uses and applies include certain Canadian provinces education system curriculums (Ontario and British Columbia Curriculum), the International Baccalaureate (IB), as well as the curriculum from her country of origin in Eastern Europe.
Sanja’s experience also comprises of training for numerous mathematics competitions or assessment tests, at which her students managed to achieve notable results. These renowned competitions or assessment tests include the Standardized Assessment Test (SAT), the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) and the Mathematical and Computing Contests of the CEMC University of Waterloo. Prior to relocating to Canada, she also successfully trained as a mentor some students for local mathematics competitions who managed to obtain excellent results at their respective competitions. One of them succeeded with extraordinary results, qualifying for the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in Greece, after winning in Bosnia and Herzegovina the first place at the municipal, then regional, as well as at provincial levels, followed by a fourth place at the state level.
During her career, Sanja also acquired experience working with and teaching students which have been diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
